Submitter's message This is a contribution to the ALIII sub-group, proposing a new document that describes the ALIII call routing requirements.
Here's the document abstract...
"This document defines call routing requirements for Agreement-Less IP Interconnection over the Internet (ALIII), as described in IPNNI-2026-00012R003. It specifies the reference architecture, call establishment information flow, and deployment examples for routing SIP calls to the appropriate terminating service provider using a destination routing domain (FQDN) resolved via DNS. To describe the required behavior, this document introduces an ALIII Call Routing Service as a logical function that provides routing discovery for called telephone numbers (including portability-correct routing outcomes where applicable). The manner in which the ALIII Routing Service is realized -- whether as an extension of the legacy NPAC/LERG or a completely new system – is out-of-scope of this document. Also, this document describes routing of calls to NANP geographic numbers only; the routing of toll-free numbers is out-of-scope (although may be moved in-scope in a subsequent revision)."
The document is based on the ATIS template. In this initial version, clause-4 provides an informative overview of ALIII call routing. Clause-5 is a place-holder for normative requirements, should we decide such a document is needed.
